Telling Stories is Enough

Thanks to Eugene Cho for pointing to Deidox, a series of short films “telling true stories of an active God.” Eugene recommends the films, and has some great thoughts about the power of story.

What struck me watching each of the films is that telling the story was enough. I would have been frustrated, or maybe even insulted if the people in each film (or worse, the producers) would have tried to turn the corner and teach me something. But they didn’t, and I’m grateful. Telling the story was enough.

I wish this were a more common approach amongst pastors, teachers and those that plan church gatherings. Some times, we just don’t need to unpack the story, and tell everybody what they should be getting from it. Many times, the story speaks for itself. And it’s enough.
