Teens and Twitter – What’s really happening?
Great thoughts from Ypulse founder Anastasia Goodstein in her recent post Teens & Twitter [Again]: It’s Developmental.
There’s been lost of discussion about the research showing how teens haven’t embraced Twitter. I will sum up what I think Anastasia is saying:
- Teens haven’t been early adopters of Twitter
- The majority of teens typically aren’t considered the early adopters of technology (Myspace was twentysomethings, facebook was college students, etc)
- Teens WILL adopt when they see how it meets their needs
- Teens embrace of technology is developmental vs. teens being technology “innovators.”
- Therefore, research like this is NOT an indicator that a particular technology will succeed or fail
