Unschooling and How We Best Learn
Leo Baubata of ZenHabits wrote this article about what he thinks needs to change in the education system. His nutshell conclusion: we need to “get out of the way”, and help kids learn the way they naturally do.
The article has some great quotes from other writers in it, but I loved this one from Leo himself:
What we learn in school isn’t nearly as important as how we learn, because how to learn is the lesson of school.
Leo suggests teachers stop teaching, and instead start facilitating experiences that help students learn how to learn, and encourage them to learn in areas they’re already curious about.
The article is a great read for any one who spends their time thinking about how to help others learn.
