All over the web last weekend…

Director Fede Alvarez made the above 5 minute short film for a reported $300. He posted the video on a Thursday, and by Monday was receiving offers from film studios to direct a sci-fi film.

Just another example of how the gap between hobbyist and professional, unknown and celebrity, and niche and mainstream is closing … fast.

Not everybody who makes a film for $300 and posts it to YouTube will land a Hollywood deal. But somebody can.
